IOFS HISTORY:
The International Outlaw Figure 8 Series (IOFS) was formed in July 2008 by Charlie Hargraves and David Sink. The purpose of the formation of the IOFS was to give Outlaw Figure 8 drivers the chance to compete at new venues throughout the Midwest with a minimal schedule. Along the way the series will also be able to attract new fans in new markets.
Charlie Hargraves is the Series Director and a current Outlaw Figure 8 competitor. He is the son of Chuck Hargraves who promoted Demolition Derby in the Indianapolis, IN area for many years. Hargraves will oversee the scheduling side of the IOFS as well as technical aspects of the series.
Managing Partner, David Sink, has been involved in motorsports for many years in a photography capacity. He has assisted such sanctioning bodies as: USAC, HOSS, and X2RA. He will handle the media and public relations aspects of the series.
The IOFS actually held its first ever event at Anderson Speedway on July 4, 2008 and was followed by another event there on October 11, 2008. Although non-points events both were a huge success and lead the IOFS to seek additional venues and create a points paying schedule for 2009 and beyond.
The IOFS is a travelling Outlaw Figure 8 series. Predominately Late Models make up the series but it is a 'run what ya brung' format open to stock type cars as well. Very limited rules make these cars arguably the most radical of short track cars in the country. |
