BEDELL, MCFALL, ALLEY CLAIM IOFS TITLES
Whitesville, KY - October 22, 2011 - Gary Bedell, Bruce McFall, and Mike Alley each staked their claim to a 2011 International Outlaw Figure 8 Series (IOFS) crown Saturday night at the conclusion of the IOFS season finale. The series finale at Kentucky Motor Speedway featured both the Outlaw and Compact divisions.
The series finale featured twin 30 lap features for the Outlaw series with Charlie Hargraves picking up the first event and Ben Tunny picking up the second feature. Both events featured tight racing and several near misses at the intersection. The only major altercation on the night occurred in the early laps of the second feature when race leader, Austin Tunny, made contact with Pat Pierce at the intersection on the fifth lap. Both drivers were ok but unable to continue the event. Gary Bedell was the Fast Magic Motorsports quick time award winner with a lap of 20.39 seconds.
Colby Grayson was quick qualifier in the Compact event with a lap of 25.03 seconds. The fifteen lap feature event was won by Stacy Kelly. The win was the first-ever IOFS victory for Kelly. Mike Alley used his third place finish at KMS to secure his 2011 Compact championship.
Defending IOFS champion, Gary Bedell, used two top five finishes in each of the two feature events to stake claim to his second IOFS title in as many years. The smooth driving Greenfield, IN resident used consistency and two feature wins throughout the year to claim his second IOFS crown. The Fast Magic Motorsports, Sonny Taylor owned car waged a furious battle with runner-up Charlie Hargraves that went right down to the final weekend.
Elwood, IN resident Bruce McFall captured the 2011 IOFS Stock championship while Anderson, IN driver Mike Alley claimed his first-ever IOFS Compact title. Alley demonstrated consistency by winning on both dirt and asphalt en-route to his Compact title. Veteran Bruce McFall's championship comes after years of figure 8 racing primarily at Anderson Speedway and several central Indiana tracks.
The KMS double header race concluded the 2011 IOFS season with only the banquet left before preparations begin for 2012. Banquet details will be announced within the coming days and will be made public on www.iofsracing.com .
